City officials have selected seven development teams to
build a total of 400 affordable housing units in Manhattan,
Brooklyn and the Bronx.
The units will be located on 67 vacant and publicly owned
lots throughout the three boroughs, and the 100 percent
affordable projects are part of the Department of Housing
Preservation and Development’s controversial infill housing
plan, according to the New York Daily News.
The developers chosen were Bronx Pro, Lemor Realty and
Iris Development, MHANY, East Brooklyn Congregations, Shelter
Rock Builders, JMR and Alembic Community Development, and
Fifth Avenue Committee and Habitat for Humanity.
The projects will be located at seven cluster sites in
central Harlem, East New York, Brownsville, Bedford-Stuyvesant,
Melrose and Fordham. Addresses at the Bedford-Stuyvesant
site include 821 Willoughby Avenue, 278 Bainbridge Street,
179 Chauncey Street, 772 Myrtle Avenue and 890 Myrtle Avenue.
In the last two months month, B&B Urban filed plans
to bring a 100-unit affordable complex to Cypress Hills
and Sav Enterprises submitted paperwork to bring a 319-unit
affordable project to the Bronx’s West Farms neighborhood.
